Lots of talk as to whether cannabis should be downgraded - just wondered what the thoughts were of folks here.

As far as were concerned everything is fine in moderation. better than going out and getting drunk and violant or abusive.

No problems with me with it being downgraded, but as with any social drug ie alchohol or nicotine in moderation is best. We've all got to die sometime, just hate being regulated along the way!

I find it curious that 2 years ago the BMA were recommending cannabis be decriminalised because they felt it (relatively) safe...and last week they were crowing about the government being irresponsible for downgrading this dangerous drug!
Used responsibly it has few undesirable effeccts and isn't particularly dangerous. I'm OK with it being reclassified.

So the government says by 2010 30% of us will be fat...I'm just a trend-setter :)

Well...
Take a look at any pharmacalogica book published before the 1970 classification of cannabis as a class B drug and you'll see that the establishment viewed it as an excellent reliever of all sorts of pains and possible help for various serious and chronic diseases.
Then suddenly after the hippies started smoking the stuff the establishment "forgot" about it's possible positive beneifts in a tide of government sponsored hysteria.
