DO you think that long distance Relationships really work?
I've been asking myself that question over the last couple of days and don't think i have ever seen it where it has worked out for both parties involved there always seems to be a problem with one or the other.
So just thought i would ask the rest of you guys If you believe in Long Distance relationships and there power to work?

From my limited experience, yes, yes yes!!! I have "been with" my partner for 2years now, and he live some 3500miles away in the States. The key is communication. We probably see each other for about 3months of the year, a week here and month there type thing. We're hopefully getting married towards the end of next year and I will be moving over there, so long distance no more!

Just my opinion and experience.

As a general rule I don't think they do work, but, there are always exceptions to the rule. As DT has said above, it's all about communication. Another big factor is trust. I had long periods when my late husband was working away from home and I didn't see him for months on end. However I trusted him - not to be sexually faithful to me because that wasn't an issue (we were always very open-minded about that factor obviously!!) but to keep true to me in the fullest sense, which he always did, as did I to him. If you truly love someone then distance isn't really a problem.

From my own experiences i dont think they do work, they can in some cases granted, but my findings were that it was hard to handle maybe spending a couple of weeks at a time apart only able to communicate by phone or email and then spending weekends together where you could (which were great), it was quite a strain emotionally on both parts, and eventually that may takes its toll, but hey if it works for you then good on ya, but another interesting questions is what people class long distance as?

I guess most people class long distance as far enough that you can't travel on a frequent basis. Obviously, distance is all relative. In my case it's 3500 some miles which I supose would be long distance by anyones standard!! LOL

Well sangria_girl and I were 5000 miles apart but we got together as soon as we reasonably could...we were married within a year of her finding me on the net!

It can work but you need trust and to be in communication as much as possible....and of course to be compatible. A long distance relationship has no hope of working if the people aren't right for each other...but if they are then while the miles make things more difficult they don't make them impossible.

Well this is all true, even being together for longer than we can remember (that long!!)and when Mrs Tex heads for home on furlough some 12,000 miles (or for the culturally rich 18,000 kms) trust is the key :kisshand: and you can always make a simple phone call at 2am local time :sleepzzz: :hug: (it strengthens the mind). So does a long distance relationship work? It does, sort of because we know we'll together in a couple of months. (ain't a lovely story?) :cuddle:

I had a shot at a long distance relationship and unfortunately for me it didn't work out, it caused a lot of grief in my life and i will definately be avoiding another one in the future, however, if you feel your strong enough to handle the grief and don't have a problem coping with being apart then go for it, some of the posts above are proof that it CAN work out.

However my experence is that if it is to last there has to be something incredibly strong betwein the two people to give it a fighting chance.
